Winter Time in Preschool 2A
WINTER TIME IN 2A
As part of our winter theme we came up with some Winter art and crafts to reinforce the children’s learning. Our children love when it’s time for gluing and sticking and painting so we knew this would be a fun activity to include all the children in the class.
By doing this we were able to promote the children’s fine motor skills along with their manipulative skills.
The children really enjoyed the theme of winter, we discussed this daily as part of our circle time and also had fun sing a longs with songs about snowflakes, penguins and bears.
Also in circle time the children learned about penguins, polar bears and what is an igloo?.
Because the children enjoyed discussing winter time so much, we decided to incorporate the learning into our art and craft time.
We first made polar bears which the children had fun gluing on the cotton wool, nose and mouth. They thought it was funny that they had finished the activity with sticky fingers from the glue.
We followed this activity by making winter trees.
Here the children used their hand prints to make a bare winter tree and they used their fingers to put falling snow on the tree.
The children all actively took part in this and loved getting their fingers messy with the paint.
Finally we made penguins to go along with our penguin poem.
The children stuffed small bottles with cotton wool, they painted the sides of the bottle and had great fun gluing on the eyes, feet and the penguins arms.
I’M A LITTLE PENGUIN
I’m a little penguin
in the snow
I slide on my tummy
to and fro
I eat the fish
from the deep
blue sea
I’m black and
white
as you can see.
Overall the winter theme was very successful, all children took part in the learning and really enjoyed our activities.
Our winter theme will now link onto the next theme which is Christmas.
That’s it for now from,
